What does HandwriterAI do?

Two things. It renders any text you give it as a realistic handwritten PDF in your own handwriting. And if you photograph a question or problem, it works out a step-by-step solution and hand-writes that for you. Either way the finished page is designed to look genuinely hand-written, not type-set.

Is this just a handwriting font?

No. A standard handwriting font repeats the same letterform every time, so the output reads as a font. HandwriterAI uses your own scanned glyphs with multiple variants per character, plus baseline drift, ink-density variation, occasional skipped strokes, and slight per-letter rotation. It is built to look hand-written, not type-set.

How do I set up my own handwriting?

You can start right away with one of the built-in handwriting styles. To use your own, you fill in a one-page template with every letter, digit, and symbol, once each, then photograph it back into the app. It slices your sheet into individual glyphs and builds your personal set. It takes a few minutes, and you only do it once.

Can it handle math, tables, and diagrams?

Yes. Inline math goes between $...$ and display math between $$...$$, rendered glyph-by-glyph in the same handwriting as the prose. No separate computer-modern font intruding mid-page. Tables and diagrams (charts, free-body diagrams, geometry, number lines) are supported too.

What languages does it support?

English and other Latin-script languages like French, Spanish, and German work today. The renderer is glyph-based, so any character present in your set will render. Right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew) are next; CJK isn't supported yet.

The free plan gives you 5 documents a month, no card required. Pro is $10/month or $30/year, and the yearly plan opens with a 3-day free trial. Pro raises you to 30 documents a month and unlocks longer documents, every paper style, and multiple saved handwriting styles.

What counts as a document?

Accepted Answer

One submission, whether typed or pasted text or one photographed problem, no matter how many pages it produces, up to your plan's page cap (10 pages on Free, 50 on Pro). Re-rendering the same submission to get a different variant doesn't spend a new document; you get three re-renders on each.

What happens when I reach my monthly limit?

On Free, you'll see a prompt to upgrade. On Pro, new renders pause until your monthly allowance resets. Either way nothing is lost. Your documents and handwriting set stay exactly where they are.

Can I cancel anytime, and how do refunds work?

Cancel anytime from your App Store subscription settings; access continues to the end of the current billing period. Refunds are processed by Apple under the App Store refund policy. See our refund policy for how to request one.

You get a PDF (or PNG) sized for standard A4 or US Letter, so it prints exactly as it appears on screen. Most renders finish in 5 to 30 seconds depending on length and whether the document has math or diagrams; Pro accounts get priority in the queue.

HandwriterAI is an iOS app for iPhone and iPad. An Android version is planned. This website is for information only. Creating and rendering documents happens in the app.

Lined, blank, grid, and dotted, all sized for A4 and US Letter and chosen at render time. Free includes lined and blank; Pro unlocks all four.

Can I change how the handwriting looks?

Yes. Slant, character spacing, line spacing, baseline drift, ink density, ink colour, and how much each render varies are all adjustable. Pro accounts can save several presets per handwriting set.

It depends on what you submit, where you submit it, and that institution's policies. HandwriterAI can both solve a problem and hand-write the result, so for graded work treat it the way you'd treat any AI assistant: only use it where your school explicitly allows it. You are responsible for following the rules of anywhere you submit work. Many uses raise no issue at all, like lecture notes, personal letters, or drafting your own writing in your own hand.

Can teachers detect it?

Possibly, if they look closely. Renders are designed to look like real handwriting, but they are not undetectable forensic forgeries. We make no guarantee of non-detection and recommend using HandwriterAI only where its use is permitted.

What do you do with my handwriting and photos?

Your handwriting scans and any photos you upload are stored privately, tied to your account, and used only to produce your documents. We never share or sell them. See our privacy policy for the full data-handling details.

Can I delete my account and data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From the settings page you can request account deletion. We hold the request in a 30-day grace window, so a misclicked delete is recoverable, then permanently purge your scans, uploaded photos, rendered PDFs, and profile data.
