Terms of Service

1. Who we are

HandwriterAI (“the Service”) is operated by the project owner. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

2. What the Service does

HandwriterAI has two parts:

• Text-to-handwriting render. Text you type or paste is laid out as a handwritten-style PDF using a deterministic, on-server renderer. No AI model touches this step.
• AI features (optional). If you submit a photo of a page of notes, the image is sent to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic Claude, via the Vercel AI Gateway) which reads it and returns the text. New documents may also be sent to a text model (Groq Llama 3.1) for short title generation and formatting clean-up. AI-generated text is produced by a probabilistic model and may be wrong, incomplete, or biased. Review everything before relying on it.

3. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not use the Service to:

• Submit rendered output as your original work to any institution (school, university, certification body, employer test, etc.) where doing so would violate that institution’s policies on academic integrity, authorship, or the use of rendering tools.
• Build a font from handwriting samples that are not your own, or that you do not have explicit permission to use.
• Forge signatures, impersonate another person, or produce documents intended to deceive about authorship.
• Render content that is unlawful, infringes intellectual property you do not own, or violates the rights of a third party.

You are solely responsible for the content you upload and for any consequences of how you use the rendered output.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of any text, photos, handwriting samples, and other content you upload (“Content”). You grant us a limited license to process Content solely to operate the Service for you, including transmitting it to the AI sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy. We do not train any AI model on your Content, and our sub-processors are bound by their respective data terms not to train on your inputs. Photos submitted for an AI solve are processed in memory and never written to durable storage on our side. You can wipe your stored documents at any time via the in-app "Delete history" control.

5. Subscriptions and refunds

Paid plans are billed monthly via Polar. You can cancel any time from your billing page; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial periods.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service or violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; this triggers a permanent deletion of your account data within 30 days.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is”. The rendering pipeline is best-effort; we do not guarantee that every character matches your handwriting perfectly. Review the output before sharing or printing.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect.
